I am currently a master’s student at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune where I am looking at the biogeography of the Indian Ocean.
Tropical ecosystems are data poor. Simultaneously, I believe that much insight can be gained by the re-analysis and re-interpretation of existing data. These two form the basis of my research interests. I am currently working on projects on the biogeography of island endemic birds, and human biases in taxonomic classification.
Because plant taxonomy is reasonably stable but non-trivial for the layperson, I am also currently documenting India’s plant diversity, emphasising identification for the layperson on Instagram (@thefloraofindia). I am also in the process of setting up a native-plant nursery in New Delhi.
