I work as a project coordinator at Tropical Ecology & Rainforest Field Centre (TERFC), Nature Conservation Foundation in Karnataka, India. I plan and coordinate long-term vegetation monitoring work in the wet evergreen forests of central western ghats. After completing my Master’s degree in Forestry, I joined National Centre for Biological Sciences to assist a research project which looked into the tree diversity and carbon sequestrated by the evergreen forests of Coorg, Karnataka. During this work, I developed interest towards plants. Later my work with NCF on restoring rainforest fragments of southern western Ghats taught me to look beyond the Plant identification and taxonomy. There, I learnt the process and technicalities involved in a rainforest restoration project. It gave me an immense pleasure to watch a carefully nurtured saplings turning into a forest. Through this learning process, I developed a strong interest towards rainforest restoration. Later I joined the Forest Department of Karnataka and served for 5 years in Dry Deciduous Forest of MM Hills wildlife Sanctuary, Karnataka, India. My research and administrative experiences in these biodiversity rich forests motivates me to be a part in building a better future for these pristine rainforest
