I am an urban ecologist based in Delhi, and a PhD candidate in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources at North Carolina State University, USA. I am a member of Dr Madhusudan Katti’s Reconciliation Ecology Lab and the Public Science Cluster at the university. My research focuses on examining the ecological and socio-cultural interactions of urban trees with wildlife and people in Delhi and Bangalore.

I engage in public science communication by sharing insights from my research on social media. I also strive to create awareness about the significance of urban nature through my tree and nature-education walks, and have been advocating for the protection and preservation of Delhi’s trees for the past several years.

I started experimenting with growing native plants almost a decade back, right in my urban home garden. Since then, I have distributed hundreds of native plant and tree saplings, and have also converted my own garden into a bird, butterfly and pollinator-friendly space by incorporating these species. I am interested in incorporating learnings from ecological restoration in urban landscapes, to enhance their ecological-functionality and make them more wildlife-friendly.
