Utkarsh is an environmental lawyer working for and from the third pole region, in the town of Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.

Through his career and education, he has focussed on creative lawyering that is rooted in environmental justice and in on-ground realities — transitioning from a big city to small town context in the process.

At the Himalayan Advocacy Center, he focusses on seeking out vast amounts of environmental information from the Indian state as it relates to the third pole region. He works with fellow community members, researchers and lawyers to organize and simplify this information, making it accessible at local, regional and global levels, with the goal of strengthening community claims to environmental justice in this region.
