Spending some years of my childhood in Sunabeda, Odisha, I was fortunate to be surrounded by luxuriant forests and all sorts of wild animals. Those experiences instilled in me a profound love for the natural world. Educating my younger son about nature many years later, I discovered that a portion of my locality had the geographic and vegetative features of the south-central ridge of Delhi, and I began contributing to its preservation. I started conducting women-only nature walks in Delhi, and was motivated by an enthusiastic turnout and participation in each. Some schools have also invited me to host nature walks and plantation drives, including my children’s school, for which I have also performed a tree census.
