My interest lies in study and documentation of the flora and small fauna of small ecosystems around Hyderabad, Telangana, such as semi-arid open dry deciduous ecosystems, rocky outcrops and shores of freshwater bodies. I’m keen to share this knowledge, to create awareness and encourage appreciation so that the ecosystems can be preserved and protected.
I lead tree walks in and around Hyderabad and make presentations to student groups and interested public to connect them to nature. I also advise those who want to plant native species in campuses and gardens. I collect seeds from the wild to help cultivate native plant nurseries.
It all started with taking an activity based gardening and nature class for 4th grade children of Vidyaranya School, Hyderabad, currently in its 20th year. I’m a graduate in Botany, post-graduate in Plant Sciences with an MPhil in Plant Physiology. Following which, I designed watches and jewellery watches for Titan (10 years), where a lot of inspiration came from nature.
