I am an Ecologist. I’ve done an M.Sc. and a PhD in Wildlife Sciences and have worked on multidisciplinary projects for biodiversity conservation in terrestrial and marine sectors. I have worked for governments and non-governmental organisations in the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and India.
I have over 20 years of experience in ecological conservation and management and environmental issues in protected areas. I have worked in the Arabian Peninsula for over 15 years in terrestrial and marine biodiversity-protected areas. My work includes the long-term assessment and monitoring of flora and fauna species of global and regional importance, understanding wild bird population dynamics in the Arabian Gulf – Satellite Telemetry studies (>150 PTTs on 20 bird species), Population and conservation biology, GIS, Remote Sensing, and species habitat modelling; alien invasive species urban biodiversity.
I was involved in setting up protected areas in Abu Dhabi Emirates and developing Management Plans for Protected Areas of Dubai Emirate.
I also assisted BirdLife International and the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Climate Change and Environment in identifying Important Bird Areas in the country, and am an Expert in assessing U.A.E. Flora and Fauna for I.U.C.N. Red List for U.A.E. Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.
