I am Arjan Basu Roy, Secretary of Nature Mates Nature Club, an NGO based in Kolkata, West Bengal. For many years we have been been working on wildlife conservation. My work includes research, biodiversity surveys, mitigation planning, pond restoration etc. After cyclone Amphan in 2020, we started working wildlife conservation and alternative livelihoods in the Indian Sundarbans.

We’re also carrying out mangrove restoration in Indian Sundarbans. In addition to this, we are also restoring the Santragachi Jheel in Howrah district (visited by many winter migratory birds every year), and have also started restoring elephant habitat in North And South Bengal.

We also have had successful on biodiversity conservation projects in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan.
