Foundation for Ecological Security

As an ecologist and Senior Programme Manager at the Foundation for Ecological Security, I’ve spent over fourteen years working on ecological restoration and understanding its impact. My academic background, including a Ph.D. in Life Sciences and a Master’s degree in Biotechnology, has provided a strong foundation for my work. I’m also deeply interested in plant and animal taxonomy.

Through years of field experience, I’ve been involved in project evaluations, training workshops, and various research initiatives. My dedication to conservation has pushed me to publish 24 research articles across diverse fields including microbial genetics, biotechnology, ecology, herpetology, ornithology, entomology, mycology, and botany.

As far as restoration is concerned, my expertise encompasses species selection, site selection, and various plantation techniques, particularly in challenging semi-arid environments. To promote sustainable and cost-effective restoration, I’ve spearheaded initiatives to identify and collect native seeds of trees, shrubs, creepers, and grasses. I’ve also organized over 100 workshops to educate communities on the importance of planting the right species at the right time and place, using appropriate methods.

To support these initiatives, I’ve developed educational resources such as seed calendars, grass seed collection posters, guides on grassland identification and planting protocols, as well as instructions on stump dressing and cutting planting in both Hindi and English.
