Dr. Amrit Kumar Mishra is a marine ecologist who works on understanding the impacts of climate change and anthropogenic disturbances on coastal marine ecosystems. His work is especially focused on the least studied coastal ecosystems of India, i.e., seagrass and saltmarsh ecosystems. He is trying to assess how these multiple stressors affect the population dynamics, biodiversity assemblages, carbon storage and adaptive capacity of these plant systems that are intrinsically linked to achieve the various Sustainable Development Goals. He is also exploring the role of seascape connectivity between seagrass and mangroves or saltmarsh and mangroves forĀ better ecosystem functioning and climate change resilience in these coastal ecosystems.
